Malicious Code Defense
SPARTA ISSO engages in research, prototype development, and testing of systems that stop malicious code from damaging computers and networks, and maintain system availability while under attack.
Malicious code includes all types of malware, such as worms, Trojan horses, and viruses. Attacks include destruction of information, denial-of-service, and loss of confidentiality. New methods of delivery, such as "phishing" are a constant threat.
SPARTA ISSO works to understand the emerging trends and patterns in malicious code design and implementation. We research technologies to detect the presence of malicious code or agents on hosts and in network gateways, and block or contain the effects of malicious code attacks.
We research and develop new techniques to efficiently detect and block SPAM.
SPARTA ISSO also examines technologies that ensure systems tolerate malicious code attacks and continue to operate correctly and securely.
