Internet Safety Through Type-Enforcing Firewalls
Domain and Type Enforcement (DTE) Firewalls combine DTE's configurable access control mechanism with traditional application gateway firewall technology to provide stronger and more flexible protection for secure enclaves. DTE firewalls are capable of making fine-grained access control decisions based on per-process DTE attributes in addition to traditional per-host and per-service mediation. DTE firewalls are also capable of extending limited trust relationships to hosts outside of their own security perimeters - a feature that enables limited bidirectional sharing of resources between organizations.
